"Try to remember friendly, funky natural food stores
that stocked books, cards, vibrantly fresh veggies,
crusty loaves and rolls, bulk grains and granola,
alluring soaps, powders and potions, and offered a
nice spot to buy sandwiches and salads. Orleans Whole
Food Store is the real thing, founded in 1975 by wife
and husband proprietors Janis Brennan and Don Krohn.
A visit to the emporium, an apothecary in the 19th
century, is an architectural delight. Treading on the
store's wide-board, antique fir floors, customers
gather savory items for a rented cottage, to take home
to the mainland, or to consume during a day at the
dunes at nearby Nauset Beach."
—The Boston Globe "Hit of the Week"
"One of the nicest health food stores on the entire
Cape, this bright and cheerful porch-fronted grocery
offers all sorts of freshly made snacks and sandwiches
to take out—or to tear into during an impromptu picnic
in the adjoining garden."
—Frommer's Cape Cod
